The Berwick is a multi-phased adaptive re-use project in the heart of Nubian Square that provides entry-level apartments and office spaces. The building is named after a former occupant, the Berwick Cake Company, maker of the renowned Whoopie Pie. Phase 1 consists of 21 compact residential units and 10 micro-office/co-working spaces and 5 micro retail units on the ground floor. Small businesses from the community who have been operating in the building prior to BREC’s acquisition were provided space in the new building as part of the commitment to supporting the small businesses who are important to the community and cultural fabric of Nubian Square.
