Prentiss House

6 Prentiss Street, Cambridge

OVERVIEW

BREC purchased Prentiss House in the peak of the pandemic, August of 2021, when it was unclear whether hotel travel would return to pre-pandemic norms. BREC bet that it would and our strategy was to completely upgrade the rooms with modern amenities, improve the décor and ambiance, and install technology to enable a staff-lite operating model to lower costs and be able to provide more competitive nightly rates in the market. Prior to BREC, the property was being run as a quaint bed & breakfast known as the Mary Prentiss Inn. It had long history as a residence, then a nursing home and finally an inn. The building’s rich history and architecture were thoughtfully preserved by BREC and the former owners and it still remains on the National Register of Historic Places.
