Alonzo Dexter Residence
1902-04 Washington Street, Boston
OVERVIEW
Home to the BREC headquarters, 1902-04 Washington is a historic rehabilitation that utilized state and federal historic tax credits to capitalize the project. Historically known as the Alonzo Dexter Residence, these buildings were abandoned in the early 2000s before being purchased by BREC and were in dire need of restoration. They are among the three original historic buildings on the BREC block, along with 11 Newcomb Street and 1900 Washington. The project entailed a full restoration of the interior and exterior, including the mansard roof on the fifth floor which was damaged by fire many years ago. These buildings offer a unique variety of floor plans, including duplexes, studios and expansive floor-through units that span the two buildings.
